Ryan Gainey is an internationally renowned southern gardener who has been called “madly passionate, stimulating, thought-provoking, exuberant, creative, romantic, whimsical, and embracing”. In this lecture, Ryan will provide insight into the importance of placement and the versatility of natural objects in design.

Mr. Gainey is also an author. The Well-Placed Weed, Ryan’s first book, discusses his Southern roots and how they inspire his work and lifestyle. In his follow-up book, The Well-Set Table, Ryan proves switches topics to celebrate food, fête, and flowers. Ryan’s projects grace properties from East Hampton to Atlanta to Provence. An engaging speaker, Ryan lectures on topics ranging from topiary to the influence of European garden design on American garden making to garden design as it relates to the house and garden as one.

Jason Powell is owner of Petals from the Past in Jemison, AL. He is a horticulturalist who received his master's degree in horticulture from Texas A&M University. He opened Petals from the Past in 1994 and have applies contemporary techniques in growing the finest old-garden plants along with new varieties.
