Antiques at The Gardens 2008 Announced for October 3-5
Alabama’s premiere antiques show and sale,
Heirlooms in Bloom, to benefit Birmingham Botanical Gardens
Birmingham, AL – The third annual Antiques at The Gardens:Heirlooms in Bloom benefiting Birmingham Botanical Gardens will be held October 3-5, 2008 at Birmingham Botanical Gardens. Presented by Regions Financial Corporation, the annual event is Alabama’s premiere annual antiques show and sale, featuring 36 nationally – recognized antiques dealers exhibiting American and Continental treasures.
Ryan Gainey, internationally renowned southern gardener, will be giving this year’s guest lecture at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 2. The talk, entitled “The Art of Rearraging and the Manipulation of Nature” will provide insight into the importance of placement and the versatility of natural objects in design. Ryan, who can be described as “madly passionate” and “thought-provoking”, is also an author and will be available for book signings 30 minutes before and after his lecture. Tickets to the lecture are $25, including admission to the show.
Antiques at The Gardens, presented by Regions Financial Corporation will feature an outstanding collection of antique furniture, oriental rugs, porcelain, fine art, jewelry, silver, garden accessories and more. Show dates are Friday, October 3 through Sunday, October 5. Hours are 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. Sunday. A special black-tie First Look Party is set for Thursday night, October 2. Guests will enjoy dining, music and a first look at collections being unveiled for this year’s show. Tickets to the First Look Party are $125, and include show admission.
In addition to the Ryan Gainey lecture, show highlights include Early Bird Guided Tours Friday and Saturday at 10:00 a.m. The Wynfrey Hotel is sponsoring complimentary wine and hors d’oeuvres Friday and Saturday at 3:30 p.m. and complimentary champagne, tea and desserts on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. Visitors on Friday and Saturday can also take a lunch break while shopping. The Garden Café will be open for lunch on Friday and Saturday and brunch on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
